Nerves of Steel

Today marked a huge milestone for me.

In November of last year I embarked on a journey to create a novel to complete in my first ever NaNoWriMo. I wasn’t sure anything could come of it but when December rolled around I was excited to say that I had produced a 90,000 word romance novel.

I took some time away from the novel, looking at it again in February. I started to tedious process of having to edit. Editing is and was no joke. It wasn’t easy having to figure out what I wanted, why I wanted it there, why I didn’t want it there etc etc.

After trying on my own I eventually sought some help. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go with a traditional publisher or self publish as those were the only two avenues I was familiar with. It wasn’t until I contracted with a line editor that I was introduced the idea of small presses.

When I attended San Diego Comic Con, a load of fun by the way, I attended some lessons in writing, one of which talked about which avenue was best, traditional publishing or self publishing.

It was here I gained more insight on indie publishing, small press and the many other names it is referred to. I researched that night all the way locating and finding a small independent publishing company that was interested in my work.

In the end I signed on the dotted line…

Right now I feel so many things:

Joy to having reached this point in my life, Fear of the unknown, Happy to be given this opportunity and excited for future endeavor’s.

There are a lot of unknowns ahead of me but I am excited to venture forward and explore a world that I’ve never explored before.

Good or Bad I am excited to have gotten this far and know that there is more to come.
